Quick answers to the most common questions about Steps.

My steps aren’t updating. What should I check?

Check the data source and observation time shown with your activity. For iPhone motion data, carry your phone while walking and allow Motion & Fitness. For Apple Health, check that the Health app has recent steps and that Steps can read them. Return to Steps and pull down on Home to refresh. A saved-data label means fresh activity may be unavailable.

How do I connect Apple Health?

Open Steps → Settings → Apple Health to request access. In the Health app, open your profile, find Steps under Apps (or Apps and Services), and allow Steps, Walking + Running Distance, and Active Energy as desired. Steps only reads data. iOS does not tell the app whether read access was denied, so missing data does not always mean zero activity.

How do I allow Motion & Fitness?

Open Steps → Settings → Motion & Fitness. If access was denied, use this option to open iPhone Settings, or review Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness and enable access for Steps. Then reopen the app.

Where are my Apple Watch steps?

Steps reads Watch activity through Apple Health, not directly from your Watch. Let the Watch sync with your iPhone, check the Health app’s step total, and then reopen Steps and pull to refresh. The hourly view uses iPhone motion data, so it can differ from the daily total that includes Watch activity.

Why do distance or calories look different?

Steps uses measured distance when available and estimates it otherwise. Apple Health Active Energy can include activities beyond walking, while estimated walking energy uses your steps and optional body measurements. Check the source label before comparing numbers.

Why does saved history differ from Apple Health?

Today can update as readable sources change. Completed days are saved as finalized summaries, so later Health corrections or delayed Watch activity do not rewrite those saved totals. The hourly view is iPhone-only. Goal and weekly plan changes affect today and later dates; older saved days retain their original targets and Goal Day or Recovery Day type.

What is included in Steps Pro?

Lifetime Pro is an optional one-time purchase with no subscription. It adds Overview tile details, premium palettes, custom colors, and eligible iCloud app-state sync. Tracking, general Insights, Goals, Achievements, Blue, and Light/Dark appearance remain free. Open the Pro screen from Settings to see the current localized price.

How do I restore Pro or troubleshoot a purchase?

Open the Pro screen from Settings and tap Restore Purchases using the Apple account that bought Pro. If purchase options are unavailable, check your connection and tap Retry; restore can be tried even when the price is unavailable. Pending approval or payment does not unlock Pro. For refunds, see Apple’s refund guidance. Contact support if a completed purchase still does not restore; do not send payment-card details.

What does iCloud Sync restore?

With Pro and iCloud available, eligible settings, goals, plans, awards, and past-day target configuration sync automatically to your private iCloud account. Open Settings → Data → iCloud Sync to check status or retry. Step totals, distance, energy, hourly counts, height, weight, notification preferences, and permissions are excluded. Allow Health access separately on each device. Complete activity and streak history after reinstall is not guaranteed, and older iPhone-only motion history may no longer be readable.

Why is iCloud Sync unavailable?

Check that Pro is active, you are signed in to iCloud, and the device has network access, then tap iCloud Sync to retry. Sync can be delayed by Apple’s service or account restrictions. Switching to a different iCloud account can pause sync to protect the original account’s data; return to the original account. Core tracking continues using local and readable activity data.

How do Daily Progress and Goal Reminder notifications work?

In Settings → Notifications, select a time and enable either notification, then allow notifications when iOS asks. Daily Progress can show steps completed and remaining; Goal Reminder uses today’s target and available activity. They are local device notifications. Delivery and freshness depend on iOS background updates and readable activity, so they may be delayed. Check Steps’ notification permission, Focus settings, and lock-screen previews in iPhone Settings if needed.

How do I delete my saved data?

Open Steps → Settings → Data → Reset Local Data. This removes local activity summaries, preferences, goals, achievements, setup information, and pending sync changes and resets notification settings. It does not erase Health or motion history, revoke permissions, remove a Pro purchase, or delete the iCloud copy. Backed-up settings and awards can restore on the next eligible sync, and available activity can be read again. Minimal notification delivery records and the iCloud account binding can remain.

Steps currently has no in-app cloud-deletion command. Manage available iCloud app-data controls through Apple’s settings. For purchase-service or support-data requests, email ksil.apps@gmail.com.
