Your data

Privacy Policy

Your activity belongs to you. Here’s how Steps uses it.

Effective October 11, 2026 · Last updated October 11, 2026

At a glanceActivity measurements are processed and saved on your iPhone. Eligible Pro app settings and awards can sync through iCloud; Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase services.

The basics

Steps: Daily Walk Tracker is an iPhone app developed by ksilapps. It shows activity, goals, history, Insights, and achievements. You do not create a Steps account. The app does not send step totals, distance, energy, hourly activity, or body measurements to us or RevenueCat.

Free tracking is available without Pro. Steps Pro adds Overview tile details, premium palettes and custom colors, and eligible iCloud app-state sync. The services used for sync and purchases are described below.

Activity & permissions

With your permission, Steps reads step count, walking and running distance, and active energy from Apple Health. This can include synced Apple Watch activity. Access is read only: Steps does not add or change Health records.

Motion & Fitness supplies iPhone step counts and available distance, including the hourly view. Steps uses a readable Apple Health daily total when available; otherwise it uses iPhone motion data. It does not add these totals together.

Distance and walking energy may be estimated when measured values are unavailable. Optional height and weight entries help with estimates. Health access is optional, and you can change either permission in iOS.

Local app data

Steps saves the following in local app storage:

  • Activity summaries: steps, distance, energy, available hourly counts, dates, time zone and source details, and saved daily targets and completion state.
  • Goals, weekly Goal Day and Recovery Day plans, goal-change history, earned achievements and dates, and preferences such as units, appearance, colors, progress style, and journey character.
  • Optional height and weight, setup and permission-request preferences, and notification choices and times.
  • Sync metadata and pending changes used to restore and synchronize eligible app-owned state.

Saved activity can remain visible when fresh data is unavailable. Completed historical summaries are preserved rather than rewritten by later source changes. The app does not include advertising or a separate behavioral analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDK. Purchase processing and reporting through RevenueCat are described below. We do not sell activity data or use it for advertising.

iCloud sync

When Steps Pro is active and iCloud is available, Steps can automatically sync eligible app-owned state through Apple CloudKit in your private iCloud account. Settings → Data → iCloud Sync shows the status and lets you retry. Sync requires a compatible app build, your iCloud account, and network access.

Synced information includes selected display and unit preferences, journey-character choice, goals and weekly plans with their effective dates, achievement identifiers and unlock dates, and past-day goal/recovery configuration and finalization timestamps.

Activity measurements are excluded from this sync. Steps does not upload step counts, distance, energy, hourly counts, activity completion results, height, weight, or Health and Motion permission state to CloudKit. Notification preferences and onboarding state are also excluded. This feature is not a backup of your activity history. On another device, activity depends on the data readable from Apple Health or that device’s motion history; identical history and streaks are not guaranteed.

Sync can be delayed or unavailable. Removing the app or resetting local data does not delete the private cloud copy. Manage iCloud access and any available app-data controls through Apple’s iCloud settings; Steps currently has no in-app command to delete its cloud copy.

Purchases

Apple handles App Store payment. Steps uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore them, and determine Pro access. When configured, the SDK can contact RevenueCat at launch and on foreground return, as well as during purchases and restores. It uses an automatically generated anonymous app user identifier and processes purchase history, transaction or receipt information, and technical app/device information. Purchase information is also used for purchase reporting.

Steps does not supply RevenueCat with your activity, body measurements, name, or email address. We do not receive your payment-card details. See RevenueCat’s privacy information and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Optional Daily Progress and Goal Reminder notifications use your selected times, daily target, and available step data on the device. With the relevant permissions, iOS background activity updates may refresh these local notifications. Steps does not use a remote push-notification server for this feature.

Notification text can show activity on your lock screen. Change times or disable either notification in Steps → Settings → Notifications; manage permission and preview visibility in iPhone Settings. iOS scheduling and background access affect delivery and freshness. Minimal local delivery records can remain after reset to prevent duplicate same-day notifications.

Your choices & deletion

Manage Steps’ read access in Apple Health, Motion & Fitness access in iPhone Settings, and notification access in iPhone Settings. Read access is optional; some views require readable activity. iOS does not tell Steps whether Health read access was denied.

Steps → Settings → Data → Reset Local Data clears saved activity summaries, preferences, goals, achievements, setup information, and local pending sync changes, and resets notification settings. It does not delete Health or motion records, revoke permissions, refund or remove your purchase, or erase purchase-service records.

Reset is local: it does not delete iCloud data. Backed-up settings, goals, and awards can return on the next eligible sync. An iCloud account binding and minimal notification delivery records can remain locally. If you continue using Steps, available activity can be read again.

Local activity remains until reset or removal of the app, subject to iOS backup and restore behavior. Apple and RevenueCat maintain service data under their applicable terms and processing arrangements.
